My husband is changing the fan belts on our 2003 Sorento and he can't get the alternator belt off. How do you loosen it.

Dog guard

Tapping Valves

Wow where has everybody gone? This used to be such an active and very helpful forum. Oh well. I have a 2003 EX, 55,000 miles, Sorento, and suddenly the valves or a valve is tapping. Tappets? Valves? Who knows. Two days later after a few miles of driving each day, the tapping is not nearly as loud and in fact cannot be heard at idle whereas at first it could be heard at idle with no trouble. Any ideas anyone? It just suddenly started at the end of a 40 miles drive one day.

Cracked Coolant Reservoir, Again!

Last October 2005 my coolant reservoir cracked. The dealer replaced it under warranty. Yesterday, the new reservoir cracked. There was a pop, a hiss, and a smelly mist of antifreeze in the air. My 2003 Sorento EX did not lose enough coolant to cause a problem with the engine temperature. I took it in this morning and the dealer said the last reservoir was warranted for 12 months and I was past that. The charges were around $260 to replace it. Has anyone else had problems with the coolant...

Just wanted to warn all Sorento owners about my experience with customsorento.com. I ordered chrome trim parts for my Sorento and never received them. 5 weeks later I get an email from James saying that they will arrive in within 2 weeks. So, I waited....... still nothing..... I emailed him and all I got back was a rude response. I checked his ebay store (autoxclusive_com) and saw all the negative feedback left for him. He's known not to deliver every once in a while! Above all he's not...

NEED HELP FAST - rough idle!

My 03 has 58,000 on it. It started idling very rough in Drive about 2 months ago. I took it in to AAA repair facility and was told I needed new plugs/wires, as well as a fuel injection cleaning. They did both ($600) and I drove the car for a day...no change in the idling problem. Took it back and had the mechanic drive it w/me - told me he felt it, but didn't think it was anything to worry about. Another month has gone by and it's even worse. I took it back to AAA and they adjusted the air...

Need help fast....rough idle!

engine stalls upon hard acceleration

i have a crdi sorentowith about 28k kilometers total mileage.

recently, i've been experiencing engine stalling upon hard acceleration. the engine will just die. afterwards, i turn the ignition off and it starts ok. but the stalling happens everytime i press the accelerator all the way down (or about 3/4 down).

could it be due to a clogged fuel filter? i'm planning to change it asap.

would appreciate some inputs.

Has anyone had a problem with not having any heat inside the truck even after an hour of driving? I am taking in next friday but I was hoping that someone had some information as a week with no heat makes the wife not a happy camper!

stiff steering after highway driving

Help I have read about this before on this forum for '04 EX models. When I drive on the highway or for some time going 60+mph then go back to city driving <40 mph the steering wheel is almost impossible to move. The only way to fix it is to turn off the car and restart it.

A few months back a read alot of comments on the steering wheel on 04 EX's getting very hard to turn after long stretches of highway (60 +mph) driving. It remains this way until you turn the engine off and restart. I am taking mine in for repairs tomorrow and would like to tell them what this is if someone has already had this diagnosed. Thanks!

I am a new Sorento owner, I have had my Sorento for about a month now. I have made a few changes to the vehicle, thanks to a few of the tips that I picked up off this site.

Is the Sorento Club still active? If so, am I in the right spot. There just does not seem to be many recent posts.

Uneven Tyre wear

Just wondering if anyone else has got the inside front tyres wearing out. I have just purchased a second hand Sorento and all the ones I saw and drove had the inside fronts scrubbing? Is this a common problem?

Will post some pics when I get her home tomorrow.
